When we talk about money and savings and budgets, we’re often talking about all the things we don’t have but that we wish we did. A big house. Vacations. Emergency savings.
It’s good to think about these things so we can make a plan and try to achieve them. But sometimes it’s just too much. We talk about all the things we don’t have yet. Then we feel like we’re not complete until we get them.
But we already have quite a lot right now. If you live in the U.S., you have running water, a roof over your head, access to the internet right now. Most of us have much more than that. We have iPads and time with friends and more Netflix than we can ever watch.
What are the things you appreciate in your life, right at this moment?
Remembering these things and dwelling on them, instead of what we don’t have, can have multiple benefits.
1 – We feel better. Instead of a life that lacks so much, we discover we have a life that is abundant with wonderful things.
2 – We spend less because we don’t need that new pair of jeans or that vacation to make our life complete. It already is.
Want to spend less & be happier? Find ways to appreciate what you already have in your life.
Your life will never be perfect. But right at this moment, it can be complete. You can have everything you want in your life by wanting everything you currently have.
